The McKelveys: A Tinton Photo Project

May 3, 2012

When I first launched Tinton Photo Project,  the McKelveys were the first to sign up. I have known this dear family for many many years, even since before they have any children. There’s not many families that I admire more than the McKelveys. There have been so many trials and struggles that they were going through throughout the years, yet they have always been faithful in their ministry to God and to others. They are so blessed with 3 wonderful children whom my son Jackson just plain adore! (In fact I had to cut out many pictures that was ruined because Jackson tried to get in the action haha..)

The Genesis Workshop

November 22, 2011

In any profession, one of the most important principles to hold on to is to never stop learning. I’ve always believed that the day I lose the desire to learn from others would be the day I drop whatever it is, and pick up something else I was passionate about. This past November I had the most awesome privilege to hang out with 40+ photographers from all around the world, many of whom I have become close friends with, through the Genesis Workshop. Below is a journal of my experiences during the week down in Memphis, TN

“The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.”

Somewhere along the way that freshman year I met Timo & Christin, and we became friends. Christin was also good friends with my wife Winny (whom at the time I didn’t even meet yet)

Growing up, my father has pretty much taught me everything I know about electronics. Our family owns a small electronics store that’s still open until today. One of the best selling items we had was the UHF Antennas. I mean those things were selling like hotcakes, especially around the Eid ul-Fitr holiday. Everyone wanted their UHF antennas!

12.20am

Numb. That was the feeling I felt as my eyes darted around the foyer and then up the stairs. Winny and Mega were sitting on the floor crying, and in my hand was a business card with a phone number written on it. “Saint Joseph Medical Center.” Yusnan was brought there. “Critical condition. Sorry, but that’s all I know,” the nice young policeman told me..

Goodbye, for now

October 31, 2009. The dark clouds rolled in fast and a storm was coming. We had planned for a casual family shoot at Lancaster County park and decided that by the time we ate lunch and got to the park, we’d probably be soaking wet. So we detoured and stopped by Jim & Martha’s Mount Joy home instead, and took some quick shots.. including some shots of my brother Yusnan and his girlfriend Mega. “A pre-engagement shoot,” I joked.
