Riverdale Manor Wedding: Chris + Melissa

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians 13 4-7

I always believe that life is most often defined not by the large, turnaround events that occurred in it, but by little moments that happened a long the way. For Chris and Melissa, these little moments happened throughout their time together in Penn State.  Penn State state is where they met, date, and grew together as a couple. The are the moments that shaped who they are and the essence of their relationship. These are the moments that they hold dear, and for 8 years they hold and wait for the right moment to come. Finally, on a cold December day, Melissa walked down the aisle and married Chris, the love of her life.

I’m always fascinated by couples who are tying the knot after a long relationship. There’s always a sense of calmness and security rarely found in other couples, yet the exuberance over the arrival of the long awaited moment is also often evident. It’s good stuff. Chris & Melissa certainly possess these qualities and I am so honored that they would share their special day with me.

We started the day at the salon as Melissa and her bridesmaids were getting their hair and make-up done..

After they were done we head straight to our venue, the always fab Riverdale Manor. Melissa’s flower girls were assembling their flower basket…

Chris and Melissa opted to do a First Look, which is always my favorite time of the day. Here Chris was waiting for Melissa to come..

Afterwards we took some bridal portraits..

It is quite an understatement to say that it was freezing cold.. but Chris & Melissa toughed it out and we ventured out by the river!

I’ve always loved shooting at Riverdale Manor and this time was no exception.  I also loved the color palette they choose – it’s so pretty!

It’s finally time for the ceremony!

These two juxtaposed images are definitely my favorites of the day. It’s one of those times where an image really does speak a thousand words.

Their first dance..

Chris & Melissa did something unusual for their reception – they hired the dueling piano players to do their music. It was pretty cool indeed!

I’ll end this post with this image below from their first dance.. which perfectly captures their relationship. Chris the always happy, warm, and caring, and Melissa the calming, steadying, and comforting presence. Thanks so much once again for the opportunity to capture your long awaited special day, I hope I have done a little justice in preserving your beautiful wedding. And thanks again for the Penn-State tour!
