Her passion is music, and Ellie Brooke wants to study at Berklee College of Music. She also wants some rockin’ senior portraits, so on one perfect summer evening I hung out around downtown Lancaster with Ellie and her mother, Kate, to do just that. After my awesome session with Kelly I decided that hey, this Senior portraits thing is actually, really, FUN to do.. because it gives me a chance to just have some fun with my clients without the pressure of this whole ‘wedding’ thing, and not the least making me feel younger in the process! ( oh, the days when I was 30 lbs thinner. sigh. )
I think I’m spoiled though, because Ellie and Kate are such cool people to hang out with, and she’s such a natural in front of the camera. She claimed she had not done this before, and I almost believed her. almost. ( Nah, I do believe her. She’s just a natural.
)
I love shooting in Downtown Lancaster by the way. So many cool places to shoot.. so many textures.. so many colors. Nevermind that the old piano that we were going to use as a prop was auctioned THE DAY BEFORE, I still think this session rocks. Please enjoy some of my favorites of the day!
We started in front of this building ( which turned out to be a photography studio.. ha!)
Love this set below! A little color tweak can give an image a totally different feel.
Next to the studio we saw this purple door which of course we had to take advantage of.
When I post the picture below previously I had tons of question on how I did this shot. Well it was actually more like a ‘coincidence’ – we were walking through this alley way when I noticed this fire hydrant and the wall.. and I just pictured this shot. So Ellie, who has mad balancing skills, hopped right on it.. and at that very moment the wind blew. Picture perfect.
Moving on.. we took some cool reflection pictures against this door.
Somewhere in downtown Lancaster there was this alley that I love to shoot at because it’s got lots of cool textures..
At this point Kate went back to get Ellie’s dress.. so we waited on this bench. The sun peeked through the clouds and it was perfect. LOVE the light on these next few pictures!
Some black and whites..
Does she rock this shot or what???

Some fun with the fisheye lens at the pool..
Who said parking garage can’t be used as a backdrop??
Probably one of the most photographed place in downtown Lancaster… Steinman Park. But it never gets old.
LOVE this set below too!
Some blue..
And I’ll end this post with some of my favorite close-ups at the end of the day. Ellie & Kate, thank you so much for having me as your photographer for this very special moment in Ellie’s life. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoy taking them! Blessings as you embark on your senior year!

Love the pics. They look like a magazine shoot, Farid. Ellie did a great job with lots of expressions and poses. You did a great job with composition and giving it that artsy feel. I think you really captured the heart of who Ellie is. Bravo!
