Wes + Betsy at Riverdale Manor

Sometime last year I met Wes & Betsy for the first time ever. We chat for a bit, trying to get to know each other as they were still deciding who they wanted to have as their wedding photographer. When I got home from that meeting my wife Winny asked me “So, how was it?” To which I replied, “They are a really hot couple. I wish they’d hire me.”

Well, they did. And we had an awesome engagement session @ downtown Lancaster. Ever since that day I’ve been looking forward to their wedding day, and finally that day arrived a few weeks ago. And it was certainly worth the wait.

Wes & Betsy are simply a wedding photographer’s dream client. Their affection toward each other are so obvious that they can’t help it. They were so relaxed, natural, and so easy to work with. They didn’t let the unimportant details of their wedding day to get in the way of what really matters. You add all of that up, and you have a perfect wedding day.

It all started @ the fab Luxe salon where the girls were getting their hair done. I just L-O-V-E this place. The ligthing, the decor, and the colors are just incredible. Oh and the ORANGE walls…

Betsy was such an easy going bride. She just beamed all day long… even when I snapped a not-so-glamour picture of her.

We were done early, so we stopped by this cool coffee shop to get some joe.

The wedding was held at the Riverdale Manor in Lancaster. They couldn’t have picked a better day. After months of grueling winter weather (even the week before was pretty nasty,) the weather finally cleared up and we even had some sun! The temperature was still a little chilly (in the 40s,) but compared to what we’ve had all winter, it was as good as it gets.

The theme of the wedding is ‘Yellow’ – and their coordinator Laura did a really good job with all the details!

The girls started getting ready while the guys chilled out for a while..

And it was finally time..

Wes had his game face on.

And Betsy put on her dress..

Betsy and Wes opted to have a first look. I say it all the time but I LOVE it when couples decided to do a first look. More on that below.. but here are a couple shots of Betsy waiting for Wes to see her in her dress for the first time.. Isn’t she just glowing???

This. is. why. I. LOVE. first. look.

I mean, these are truly some of my favorite images of the day. I can shoot these all day long!

After the first look, we took some bridal shots inside. Way to work the camera, Betsy.

Apparently, the girls were watching the first look afterall!!!

Then followed by the bridal party shots. You guys were all great!!! Thanks for standing out in the cold!!!

The guys lasted a little longer – must be the luxury of wearing a suit – so we took some fun shots..

After we are done with the bridal party, we moved on to my second favorite part of the day after the first look: Hanging out with Wes & Betsy to capture awesome shots. And if you’ve read my post about their engagement session, you know that they are quite the pro at this!!

Just gorgeous..

The light was just AMAZING.

“Hey guys, would you mind climbing up this rock so we can get some more awesome shots?”

This image makes me very happy.

And this too.

The light was fading quickly so we wrapped up our session.. and getting ready for the main event. Wes thought it was faster if he’d just carry Betsy on his back!!

I capture these right before the ceremony started..

The procession began…

And I also LOVED how the lighting was.. It created a very intimate, romantic feel.

The unity candle and the kiss..

They’re married!!

And we finally arrived at the last part of the day… the reception. I decided to shot everything the way it was without using flash as much possible because the mood was so intimate & perfect, and I wanted to capture it the way it was.

Starting with the speeches..

The cake and the bouquet toss..

I’ll end this long post with one of my favorite images of the day!

Whew, is this a long post of what??? There are just way too many favorites to post them all, and I’m not even done with all the pictures yet!! Wes & Betsy, thanks for inviting me to your special day. It was truly a privilege to share the moments of your wedding day together, and I hope I have captured your story in an honest, true, and beautiful way! See you guys around!!

P.S. I’ll be working on a special video montage with Wes & Betsy….. stay tuned!!!
